The time was the mid-’80s, and in this era of rapid change, John Homewood had the circumspection to preempt practical solutions for the Medical Waste Disposal sector.

“In those days AIDS and hepatitis were becoming an issue and I could foresee that at some point, but I didn’t know when, that attitudes on Clinical Waste landfilling would change,” John says.

As Chairman, John now oversees the Ace Waste Group and ensures that Ace Waste continues with its legacy of providing the safest and most environmentally sound disposal of Clinical and Related wastes.

Alex has been with Ace Waste since 2004, and since that time has had the good fortune of being able to undertake various roles throughout the business.

Alex now has an in-depth and hands-on understanding of the issues facing the Regulated and Prescribed Industrial Waste industry in the areas of logistics, treatment, processing, compliance and regulation.

“I am passionate about ensuring that we can continue to provide a safe and reliable service to our clients, whilst ensuring we continue to provide the most environmentally sustainable disposal solutions available”.

Alex is able to assist with strategic direction for the company and innovating new concepts and projects. This includes undertaking our 2025 waste to energy strategy.

Urs has been with Ace Waste for over 30 years and is responsible for overall operations at both Ace Waste’s Victorian and Queensland facilities.

Urs is a fully qualified mechanic with a highly developed understanding of heavy machinery and has played a significant role in overseeing the design and construction of both the Incineration facilities.

As Ace Waste operates the two largest and most modern High-Temperature Incineration facilities in Australia. Urs is highly experienced in the operational management of our company and ensuring that these facilities are operated and maintained to the highest standards.

Lavan has been with Ace Waste for the last four years and has been in the waste management sector for well over a decade.

Whilst Lavan comes from a marketing background, he is very passionate about the Waste sector. Utilising his education and the Waste sector experience, he has been able to manage and train staff nationally. His duties also include managing suppliers and other contractors. He continues to be an asset to the team at Ace Waste.

Ben has been with Ace Waste since 2018 and is responsible for the overall management of Ace Waste Queensland. 

Ben has both a rich theoretical and practical understanding of the Regulated Waste industry and brings to the business-extensive knowledge and experience. His areas of expertise are centred around superior account management/customer service and Clinical & Related Waste compliance and regulations.

Ben also brings over 20 years of experience working within large healthcare settings in developing, implementing and promoting environmentally sustainable Waste Management initiatives and practices.

Ryan started with Ace Waste in mid 2020 during the height of the pandemic, but has worked for a further 5 years prior in the clinical waste industry.

Starting as a driver before moving onto Team Leader, Fleet Supervisor, Fleet Manager and now Operations and Fleet Manager.
Ryan is passionate about ensuring all customers receive the highest quality service.
Ryan’s duties include organising daily logistics, supervising, coordinating and guiding the logistics and waste processing operations team. Also ensuring all vehicles, waste processing plant and equipment is functional and maintained to a high standard whilst facility operations are managed in accordance with environmental compliance.

“I aim to treat all customers equally, from a major hospital that can fill a truck to a small dentist requiring an emergency sharps delivery. I believe loyalty should be rewarded and all customers that have been with us from the start will attest to the high quality of service we provide”
